Care Designed Around Your Family

Pregnancy and birth deserve time, trust, peace, and personalized care.

At The Mother’s House, we provide holistic in-home care for families looking for a physiological pregnancy and birth experience throughout western Pennsylvania. Our approach is deeply relationship-based, centered on informed decision-making, compassionate support, and honoring pregnancy and birth as a sacred and transformative journey.

Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, our goal is to help you feel prepared through becoming educated and informed, while being supported in your choices every step of the way.

A More Personal Approach to Birth Care

Many families come to us looking for something different than the typical maternity

care experience — something physiological, more personal, and where your voice matters.

At The Mother’s House, care is built around relationship, trust, and individualized support. We believe pregnancy and birth are not simply medical events to manage, but important life experiences that deserve thoughtful care, education, and presence.

Instead of rushed appointments and one-size-fits-all care, we take time to truly know the families we serve — answering questions, providing guidance, and creating space for families to make informed decisions with confidence.

Longer Appointments

Appointments are intentionally unhurried, allowing time for meaningful conversations, questions, education, and individualized support throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

Relationship-Based Care

You’ll build an ongoing relationship with Ashley, who walks closely with your family throughout your care journey.

Informed Decision-Making

We believe families should feel educated, empowered, and actively involved in decisions regarding their care and birth experience.

Faith-Centered Support

For families who desire it, prayer and faith can be a meaningful part of the pregnancy and birth experience.

Personalized Birth Experience

Every family is different. Care is tailored to your needs, preferences, and goals,

Calm Home Environment

Being at home allows many families to labor and welcome their baby in a familiar, peaceful environment surrounded by the people they love most.

What’s Included in Your Care

Prenatal Care

Visits focus on both physical health and emotional wellbeing throughout pregnancy. Throughout our visits we will work together to grow your knowledge so you can make informed decisions’. We’ll discuss nutritional and lifestyle recommendations, birth preparation, and plenty of time for questions and conversations.

Our goal is not simply to “check boxes,” but to help families feel informed, supported, and genuinely cared for throughout the entire journey.

Labor & Birth Support

During labor your support is in the comfort of your home. We discuss prenatally your plans for birth support and monitoring insuring the mother’s choices are heard. We will support Mother and baby carefully while protecting the calm, respectful environment many families desire for birth.

Our approach prioritizes informed care, emotional support, and honoring the natural physiology of labor whenever possible.

Postpartum & Newborn Care

Support continues well after birth. Postpartum visits include the health and recovery of both mom and baby while also providing encouragement, education, feeding support, and guidance during the early transition into parenthood.

We believe postpartum care matters deeply and deserves thoughtful attention and support.

Christian, Family-Centered Care

For families who desire it, faith can be an important part of the care experience. Prayer, encouragement, and a shared understanding of birth as a sacred gift from God are naturally welcomed within our model of care.

Our goal is always to create an environment where families feel peaceful, respected, and spiritually supported throughout pregnancy and birth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Feel free to ask during a free consultation call.

  • Prenatal visits are designed to feel personal, unhurried, and educational. In addition to routine assessments and monitoring, appointments include time for questions, birth preparation, nutrition and lifestyle discussions, and ongoing support throughout pregnancy. Many families appreciate having space to slow down, process decisions, and build a real relationship with their provider.

  • Most families are surprised by how simple the setup actually is. We provide a detailed supply list during pregnancy that includes common household items and a few birth-specific supplies. Near the end of pregnancy, families typically prepare a clean, comfortable birth space and gather basic items ahead of time so everything is ready when labor begins.

  • Absolutely. One of the unique benefits of homebirth is the ability to welcome your baby in a familiar environment surrounded by the people who matter most to you. Many families choose to include spouses, children, grandparents, or close friends as part of the experience, depending on what feels most peaceful and supportive for them.

  • After birth, care continues in the comfort of your home while mom and baby recover, bond, and settle in together. Immediate postpartum care includes monitoring both mother and baby, assistance with feeding if needed, and ensuring everyone is stable before we leave. Follow-up postpartum visits provide continued support during the early weeks after birth.

  • Earlier is usually better, especially since availability can become limited as due dates fill up. That said, families sometimes transfer care later in pregnancy as well. Even if you’re still exploring your options or simply curious about homebirth, a consultation is a great place to start and ask questions without pressure.
